What We Do

Skilled Stone Masonry

Skilled Stone Masonry

Bath stone and natural stone masonry — repairs, carving and reinstatement for listed and period buildings.

Stonework is one of the crafts that defines older buildings in this part of the world — bath stone dressings, limestone mullions, flint and stone walls. We carry out stone repairs, carving and reinstatement, working with the existing stone so new work sits honestly alongside the old.

We work in bath stone and other natural stones, cutting and dressing blocks, splicing in repairs where the original has failed, and reinstating mouldings and details to match. Where a stone has decayed beyond repair, we replace it like for like.

Most of this work forms part of a listed building or period project, carried out alongside lime mortar and traditional methods. We work with your architect and, where needed, the conservation officer.

Yes. Where the original can be saved we splice in repairs — cutting out the decayed area and piecing in matching stone — rather than replacing the whole block. Where a stone has failed beyond repair we replace it like for like.

Stonework is priced individually from the drawings and the extent of the repairs. We provide an itemised breakdown so you can see what is included.
